Search and Cluster the Web
To perform a meta-search with the ACSi ToolBar simply enter your search terms in the text box and hit the Enter key or click the Search button. You can also try these convenient shortcuts:

Recent Searches - Repeat a recent search by clicking the down arrow to the right of the search box. This shows a list of your most recent queries; click one to repeat the search.

Drag and Drop Search - Perform searches by selecting some text on a web page and then dragging and dropping that text into the toolbar search box. The query will be performed automatically.

Right-click Search - Select some text on a web page, right click on that selection, then select "ACSi ToolBar-Search" from the pop-up menu to automatically run a meta-search on that word or phrase.

Search Other Sources
Click the arrow next to the search icon to choose which search engine or group of search engines to request results from.

Keyword Highlighting
The Highlight button highlights your search terms wherever they appear in the current web page. Use this feature on search result pages or any web page. Simply enter words into the search box and click the Highlight button. Each search term found on the page will be highlighted in a different color.

Word Find
The Find feature allows you to locate words and navigate to them. Every word typed into the search box automatically generates a new Find button on the right end of the toolbar. Clicking on one of these buttons will cause your browser to jump to the next occurrence of that word on the page. Each word has its own button. As with the Highlight button, you don't have to do a search to use this feature: just enter a term in the search box and click its corresponding find button.

Query Catcher
If you complete a search on sites such as Yahoo!, Google, MSN, WiseNut, Teoma, AltaVista, and others, the ACSi ToolBar will automatically detect your query and insert the same terms into the toolbar search box. If you can't find what you're looking for in the long ranked list of results returned by these conventional search engines, simply click the Search button in the ACSi ToolBar!

Block Annoying Popup Ads
The Popup Blocker gets rid of annoying popup ads by preventing most popup ads from being displayed by your browser. Websites often use Javascript to load popup ads while you are browsing a site. When loaded, these scripts open another page, most often when you leave the page by clicking a link or closing the browser window. The Popup Blocker detects and disables most of these scripts.

When blocking a popup the Popup Blocker will alert you by briefly changing the image of your cursor. A message will also appear in the status bar of your browser. The Popup Blocker is enabled by default.

If a popup window is blocked after you click a link, but was actually something you wanted to see, hold the CTRL key while clicking the link again; this will temporarily disable the popup blocker. To turn off the popup blocker, click the Popups Blocked icon in the toolbar. The icon will change to read Popups Allowed. Click the icon once more to start blocking popups again.

You can turn the Popup Blocker off completely in the customize your toolbar section of the pull-down menu. A popup blocker button will no longer appear in your toolbar.

Pull-down Menu
Click on the blue ACSi button or the drop-down arrow next to it to access the ACSi ToolBar menu. It provides links to your toolbar customization page, various ACSi web pages, and other important settings. The web pages include links to ACSi Web Hosting.com, ACSi Links (Advanced Search pages, product information and company information), and a Help section.

Other items in the pull-down menu are:

  • Clear Toolbar Search History - Erase the list of recent queries in your ACSi ToolBar.
  • Erase All Browser Cookies - Erase ALL cookies set in your browser.
  • Reset Popup Blocker Count - Reset the popup blocker count to zero.
  • Check for Toolbar Updates - By default, the ACSi ToolBar will automatically update itself when it finds a new version is available. If you turn this feature off, you can still manually update your toolbar by selecting this item in the pull-down menu.
  • Uninstall - Remove the ACSi ToolBar from your browser. But you would never want to do that, right?
  • Toolbar Help - Links to toolbar information such as a help page, toolbar features, faq, End-user license agreement, privacy information, and contact information.
Customize Your Toolbar
Select Customize... in the toolbar's pull-down menu and you are taken to the toolbar options page, where you can easily set your preferences for the toolbar. Click the checkbox next to an option to turn it on or off.

These options allow you to change the layout of your toolbar and add/remove buttons:

  • Search Box Width - Set the search box size to fit your preference. You can choose from three sizes.
  • Show Text Labels for Buttons - By default, descriptive text appears in the toolbar buttons next to the icons (i.e. "Highlight"). If you turn this option off, only the icons will appear.
  • Search Options - When you click on the drop-down arrow next to the search icon in the toolbar you will see several different search options. Customize which of these options appear in this menu by clicking the checkboxes next to each option.
  • Popup Blocker - By default the Popup Blocker is on. To turn it off and remove the button from your toolbar, clear this checkbox. Alternatively, you can turn the Popup Blocker off and on by clicking on the Popup Blocker icon in your toolbar.
  • Highlight Button - By default, you will see the highlight button appear in your toolbar after you complete a search. To hide this button clear the checkbox.
  • Word-find Buttons - By default, word find buttons are generated and displayed each time you enter a search term. To disable this feature, clear this checkbox.
  • Open in New Window - Open a new window to display your search results in when you search with the ACSi ToolBar.
  • Auto Complete - This option saves previous queries and automatically provides suggestions of these previous queries when you start typing in the search box.
  • Search History - By default, your previous searches are stored in the drop-down list under the search box. If you prefer not to keep past searches, clear the checkbox.
  • Auto-run from History - Automatically run a search when you select it from the search history.
  • Run Search Drag Automatically - By default, when a word or phrase is dragged into the search box your search will run automatically.
  • Update Toolbar Options - You are given three updating options:

    1. Automatic - By default your toolbar is set to automatically install the toolbar updates. (Recommended)
    2. Notify - You will be notified when a new update is available.
    3. Manual - You must manually check for updates to your toolbar. You can do so by selecting the "Check for Updates" option in the pull-down menu.
